PAC 10 Agrees Sooners Hometowned

Jeff Latzke in an AP story reports that PAC 10 officals found merit in OU's complaint of poor officiating in their loss against Oregon and have agreed to suspend the officiating team for one game.

"Errors clearly were made and not corrected, and for that we apologize to the University of Oklahoma, coach Bob Stoops and his players," said PAC 10 Comissioner Tom Hansen. Hansen also said "they played an outstanding college football game, as did Oregon, and it is regrettable that the outcome of the contest was affected by the officiating."

The blown call was regarding an Oregon onside kick that did not travel the required 10 yards before a Ducks' player recovered the ball. The officals awarded Oregon the ball when it should have been first down Sooners. Matters were made worst by a pass interference call on OU when clearly there was none.

OU officals are trying to have the results of the game nullified but so far have been unsuccessful.

It is PAC 10's policy that out of conference games played in the Pacfic conference will be officate by PAC 10 officials. Sounds like to me that creates a situation where a non_PAC 10 team could be Homered.
