National Treasurer

Friday night I sat down and read for the first time in a long time the Declaration of Independence and The US Constitution. Slow Friday night...no not really. Sometimes we need to pause to do things that cause us to reflect on why our country is so great and who we are as a people.

Many people in the United States see us as nothing more than a collection of different cultures unconnected and coexisting together. Our founding documents remind us of who we are and why so many people from all over the world desire to come to the United States. The US Constitution begins with WE THE PEOPLE of the United States. The Founding Fathers were thinking of a citizenry where people of different cultures and backgrounds would be bound together by a common purpose and vision. One where the people gave government the power to secure their freedom, liberty and common defense. A common purpose and vision that many of our sons and daughter have been willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice to perserve.

It is the duty of every American to read and understand The Declaration of Independence and The US Constitution. A citizenry that understands it country's heritage and purpose is sure to secure it's way of life, government and future. If not our democracy will be in jeopardy.

If you haven't take time to read the two documents that are truly our National Treasures.
