Johnathan Bruda

Johnathan Bruda a Junior at Taylor High School and a member of the cross country team died this Friday after a light work out at the school track. A cause of death has not been determined as of yet.

My son Drew is a senior at Taylor and while he did not know Johnathan his death did have an impact on him as it did on all students.

Young people feel so invincible that they have no sense of their own mortality. Johnathan's death reminds them and all of us that life is so fraigle. There is no certainty in life for any of us. So we must enjoy every minute and recognize the things that are really important.

Often we find ourselves ruled by the urgency of the daily events of the day that we miss life all together. We forget to take time to hug our family members and enjoy our friends. We forget to take time to reach out to those in need. Most importantly we forget to humble ourselves and honor our God.

If Jhonathan's death makes us all pause to realize these things the something positive can be gained from a tragic event.

You have got it right, Dave. Too often it takes a tragedy to bring us back to the important things.
