Sugar Bowl To Break 70 Year Old Tradition

It was announced yesterday that the Sugar Bowl football classic will be played in Atlanta's Georgia Dome on Jan. 2, 2006. This move was made necessary as a result of the damage to the Superdome in New Orleans by hurricane Katrina. This will be the first time the football classic will be played out side of Louisiana since it was first held at Tulane University in 1935.

Some thought was given to holding the game at LSU Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. However as a result of the evacuees located in the city it was felt that hotel space and the infrastructure could not adequately accomodate fans attendng the game.
