LSU 34 Vandy 6 In Unfocused Win

The night in Nashville was a perfect fall night for college football, but it was not enjoyable for the Dores faithful as LSU beats Vandy 34 to 6. As a whole the Tigers played a game plagued by mental mistakes where receivers dropped passes and LSU gave up 133 yards due 14 accepted penalities. The Bengals committed additional infractions but they were declined by Vandy.

The Tigers had a hard time scoring through three quarters even though they statistically overwhelmed the Dores. In the last period the Tigers finally wore Vandy down and put 22points on the board. When the fourth quarter expired the Tigers posted the following statistic:
  • LSU time of possession 34:51 Vandy 25:09
  • 3rd down conversions LSU 8-16 Vandy 2-14
  • Penalties LSU 14-133 Vandy 5-36
  • Rushing LSU 194 Vandy 25
  • Passing LSU 285 Vandy 113
  • Total Yards LSU 479 Vandy 138
  • 1 st Downs LSU 22 Vandy 10

Because of the Tigers' mental mistakes and penalties Vandy was able to "hang around" much longer than they should have. The Tigers need to focus because they will not be able to play sloppy and win against their other SEC opponents.
