Stranger In My Own Homeland

I was watching an Astros game today and was caught totoally by suprise when the post game show was alll in Spanish. It was a weird sensation I was sitting in Houston, Texas watching a baseball postgame show on Fox Sport Channel and I could not undertand the post game analysis because it was not being broadcast in my own native tongue English. Image that I am in the good ole USA and a main stream sport channel that has just broadcast America pasttime is doing the postgame in a foreign language. What is happening here!!! Just last week the Star Spangled Banner was re-written in Spanish. This is a little disconcerting.

You might say what is the big deal. This all come on the heels of a initiated debate nationwide about illegal immagration. Latinos all over the US have been protesting over proposed stricter legislation enforcing the imigation laws. Just think we have people here who are illegal aliens (not undocumented immigrants) here tell ing us how this country should be run. I remember from my civics class that rights only come through citizenship and not a a result of illegal entry in this country.

From the images on the new reports of the protest by Latinos many are carrying the flag of Mexico. Exactly where do the allegiance of these people lie. Many have even said that California, Arizonia, New Mexico and Texas really belong to Mexico. I don't think so.

If you want to come to this country do it the right way through the legal immagration process. Become a citizen, learn our language and become a a part of the fabric of American society and don't live as a culture within a culture. Remember ole Abe Linclon had it right a house divided can not stand. Otherwise this is one American that says I don't want you.

Today is their big day. The march and boycott. I'm going to the grocery store and spend more today than I should for groceries.
Hope a lot of other United State citizens do the same. Thanks for your thoughts.
