Wanting Your Cake and To Eat It Too

Many of my conservative friends in the past complained about liberals placing a "pro-choice litmus test" to judical nominees. Many cried foul when liberals questioned whether or not a nominees Christian faith would disqualify a nominee from serving and judging case without judical prejudice. I believe they were correct in their protestations.

However I find it disingenuous that many conservatives seemed upset with the Miers nomination because she is an unknown on social issues that they strongly support. Her religious faith is now important to the nomination only to prove to the social conservatives that she came be trusted.

As a fellow conservative it appears that some from my side of the political fence are trying to have it both ways. They're trying to have their cake and eat it too.
