Texas 47 OSU 28

I got a call yesterday from my daughter Paige, an OSU student, an she said that the Pokes were going to beat Texas. I said OK because I did not want to crush her hopes. You know dad are sometimes suppose to humor their children. As the clock ticked down to halftime OSU did just that, they beat Texas hands down. There is part of you that starts to believe could this be like David versus Goliath or the Lake Placid USA Hockey team versus the Soviets. OSU was playing with a lot of emotion. Emotion can only take you so far against superior talent.

Then as the 3rd quarter plays out you begin to realize all good fairy tales must come to an end. Just like "Jack In the Bean Stalk" the sleepy Longhorn giant began to stir. As time expired, OSU again was on the short end of the stick. Another loss and on Homecoming to "boot". Cowboy fans should take heart because the team is beginning to mature. The pokes play was much better.

However the coaching staff has to find a way to reduce the number of penalities. OSU had 9 last night for a 90 yards. Many were against the offense line for offside infractions. On the positive side the Pokes had a total yard rushing of 402 yards and 20 first downs. They also turned the ball over only 1 times (much improved).

Coach Gundy now has something he and his staff can build on. I fhey continue to play like they did against Texas the "bedlum" weekend should be fun.
