When Will Some Democrates Act Like Adults

Samuel Alito's confirmation is a sure thing, but some Democrates on the Judicary Committee are acting like children who have not gotten their way. Senator Leahy (D)of Vermont and the ranking minority leader on the committee indicates there will be a delay of the committee's vote. The vote was schedule for Tuesday but Leahy said many of his party members on the committee could not get back in times after going home for the Martin Luther King holiday on Monday. This is after he made an agreement regarding a set confirmation schedule with Committee Chairman Arlan Specter (R), Penn., back in in the fall.

Based on his answers in the hearing Judge Alito will be a conservative member of the court but may not be as conservative as Thomas or Scilia. However this should not be the basis for non-confirmation.

By delaying a vote out of committee and the inevitable, Democrates are acting like children who do not get their way and go to their rooms to sulk. It is about time they start acting like adults for a change rather than spoil brats.
